Welcome to our blog, you are here with Alana, Steven, Brenda, and Alexia! We are here to discuss a main problem that has been occurring and is still occurring to this day... water pollution. Many of us humans do not realize that some things we do effect nature in a negative way. Water pollution is one of the many things we do not recognize, it is also one of the greatest human impact that is hurting our marine life. Water pollution can be as small as one persons trash ending up in the water or as huge as a large amount of contamination due to oil spills, wind blowing too much trash into the water, and the carbon pollution in the air that is soaked up into the ocean. The first picture in the top right shows what contamination of trash in the water looks like, clearly you can tell that this is not right and it should not be considered "normal" to some people. The last bottom picture is a graph that briefly shows how much the ocean water is either impacted or impaired due to the category that is labeled. The second to last picture on the top shows us the major water pollutants and the examples of what is being affected from the horrible actions, or the sources. The ecosystem is absolutely affected by water pollution, because it disrupts the natural food chain, especially if a specific species is going extinct. Habitats are affected by water pollution, because of major events like acid rain or oils spills, which destroys the marine habitat. Water pollution produces toxins that poison aquatic organisms, such as fishes, dolphins, turtles, and more. Believe it or not abiotic factors are also affected by water pollution, such as the oxygen, because it can be greatly reduced if polluted by organic sources such as sewage. Although, there are many problems with water pollution, there can be many solutions and we will mention 3 ways!1. Containing spills from any kind of chemical or oils would be really useful to help prevent it from contaminating the ocean in any way.
2. Capture and dispose of any trash that you may see floating along the water.
3. The easiest one of all is to NOT LITTER!! Throw your crap away, thank youuuuuuu. :)
